Message from the President

“What has carried us through the waves of every erais nothing other than the bonds we share with you.”

President & CEO, DOHO CorporationTakayasu Aihara

Since our founding in 1948, DOHO has been part of our customers' manufacturing for 78 years.

Looking back, the road has never been a smooth one.

As the times changed, as industries changed, as what our customers asked of us changed, we changed with them. That we have been able to keep going is owed entirely to the bonds we share — with our customers, with our suppliers and partner companies, and with every employee who has supported DOHO.

For that, we are sincerely grateful.

And now, manufacturing in Japan is at a major turning point.

Labour shortages and the difficulty of passing on skills as successors grow scarce, shifting supply chains, digitalization, and the advance of new technologies such as AI — the environment around manufacturing is changing profoundly. In the midst of it, we are asking ourselves anew whether simply extending the role we have played so far will be enough to keep delivering real value in the years ahead.

DOHO began with materials.

Through the long years we have worked with materials, we have seen the manufacturing of many customers up close and faced a wide range of challenges alongside them.

From here, while holding on to that origin, we will involve ourselves more deeply in manufacturing itself — in processing, in equipment, and in new technologies. Sometimes we will build the capability ourselves; other times we will join hands with companies and people who are strong in their own fields.

Rather than completing everything on our own, we will connect people with technology, company with company, and inherited wisdom with fresh thinking — and from those connections create new value together with our customers.

That is the DOHO we are working to become.

What we are after is not simply a wider business domain. Japanese manufacturing holds skills cultivated over a long time. It holds experience. And it holds the many people who have sustained it.

At the same time, passing that on to the next generation is no longer something we can take for granted. To carry the skills and wisdom of Japanese manufacturing forward — evolving them into new forms suited to the times — and hand them to the next generation: we want that to be DOHO's role from here.

From 1948 to today, we have received what many before us carried, and we are entrusted with leading the company in this era. We too are one runner, holding the sash for a stretch of a very long course.

That is why we want not merely to protect the sash we were handed, but to carry it a little further in our own stretch and pass it on in better condition. Never forgetting our gratitude for the many bonds of these 78 years, and cherishing the new ones still to come.

DOHO will keep changing, so that it remains a company the next era needs.

Beyond Trading,
Engineering the Future of Manufacturing.
